When playing records, the stylus should reliably follow the groove, even during cueing and scratching. The Stanton Discmaster V.3 is a DJ cartridge with an integrated headshell and SME bayonet mount; you can attach it to a compatible tonearm without first mounting the cartridge on a separate headshell.

The recommended tracking force is 4 g, within the permissible range of 2 to 5 g. The cartridge is designed for reliable tracking at a comparatively low tracking force. Its high output level of 5.5 mV and emphasised bass response suit DJ use; at the same time, the stylus is designed to minimise vinyl wear.

The spherical diamond stylus has a 0.7 mm profile and is highly polished. Together with channel separation of more than 28 dB, the cartridge is designed for playing records in DJ and everyday use. It weighs 18 g, so when setting it up, check that the tonearm and counterweight can be adjusted accordingly.

The Discmaster V.3 is suitable for DJs and turntable setups that can accommodate a pre-mounted cartridge with an SME bayonet mount and a tracking force of 2 to 5 g. The high output level, spherical stylus profile and recommended setting of 4 g are the key criteria when choosing it.
