Product description Shure PGX4E-R1

For a wireless microphone system, a clear radio channel and a stable connection are essential. The Shure PGX4E-R1 is a stationary UHF diversity receiver with Predictive Diversity, designed to stabilise reception and minimise dropouts. It operates in the R1 frequency band from 800 to 820 MHz; which frequencies may be used depends on national regulations.

The receiver handles channel selection: automatic frequency selection searches for a channel with as little interference as possible. You then synchronise the transmitter and receiver via their infrared interfaces. This simplifies setup, but requires a compatible Shure PGX transmitter operating in the same frequency band. Up to 96 pre-programmed frequencies and eight compatible channels are available.

For connection to the PA system, there is a balanced XLR output with microphone level and an unbalanced 6.35 mm jack output with instrument level. A 32.768 kHz pilot tone supports reliable operation and prevents switching noises. Audio Reference Companding uses a level-dependent compression ratio to reduce background noise.

Two seven-segment displays on the front show the channel; separate LEDs indicate audio level and RF reception. The supplied quarter-wave antennas are part of the reception system. Under typical conditions, the stated range is up to 100 m; actual results depend on factors including the radio environment and obstacles.

With its compact ABS housing and a weight of 327 g, the receiver fits into mobile wireless setups. The optional URT rack tray is designed for permanent rack installation. This makes the model suitable for stage and event technology when you need a PGX-compatible receiver with automatic channel selection, IR synchronisation and separate audio outputs.
