Sennheiser Freeport FP 35-E-EU

For singing and speech on a small stage, a reliable wireless link with a direct connection to the PA system is essential. The UHF vocal set with handheld transmitter and diversity receiver Sennheiser Freeport FP 35-E-EU combines the SKM 3 cardioid dynamic microphone with the EM 1 receiver. The E variant operates in the frequency range from 863 to 865 MHz.

The transmitter and receiver can be set to four preset channels. Both devices must be set to the same channel for operation. The channels are coordinated within the frequency range; up to four freePORT wireless links can be operated simultaneously in that range. Their frequencies differ from those of the evolution systems, so extra care is required when operating them together.

The EM 1 uses diversity technology, which manages reception via two antennas and is designed to minimise dropouts. An LED indicates which antenna is currently active. You can use the adjustable squelch threshold to suppress unwanted RF signals. Set it as low as possible, as a setting that is too high reduces the range.

A balanced XLR and an unbalanced 6.3 mm jack output are available for connecting to a mixer or amplifier. The shared GAIN control adjusts the output level to suit the respective input. A peak LED on the receiver warns of excessive audio levels. The SKM 3 has a dynamic capsule with a cardioid polar pattern; the microphone head is not replaceable.

The receiver is powered by the supplied power supply. The wireless microphone requires a 9 V PP3 battery; with an alkaline battery, operating time is approximately ten hours. The set is suitable for singing and speech transmission if you need a single handheld transmitter, four selectable channels and suitable XLR or jack connections for your PA setup.
