Reloop Spin! 2+

With timecode DJing, you control digital tracks using the familiar movements on a turntable. The Reloop Spin! 2 Plus Digitrack Bundle combines a DVS interface with software, timecode media and two Concorde cartridges optimised for timecode vinyl from Ortofon in the poison-green Spin! Edition.

The Spin! 2+ interface also serves as a USB audio interface and MIDI control centre. You can connect turntables or line sources via the phono/line inputs, each with its own gain control; ground screws and a phono preamp support turntable operation. The RCA thru outputs route the signal around the interface for playing regular vinyl. This lets you switch between timecode playback and a conventional record.

For controlling the Spin! software, the interface has 13 buttons, six rotary controls and a Trax encoder. You can use them to browse and load tracks, set cue points, operate loops, adjust effects and synchronise tracks without having to perform every step with a mouse. Signal LEDs indicate inputs and outputs; raised rubber feet make it easier to position the interface behind the mixer.

The software supports three playback modes: Classic Spin, Advanced Spin and Jog Spin. Features include Master Tempo, a BPM counter, a beat-match display, beat loops and manual loops with a Reloop function. Scratch and needle-drop functions, along with six memory points per track, are available for scratching and turntablism. Three master effects – Flanger, Delay and Filter – and the Spin-Juggle function round out the playback controls. The latter loads and synchronises a track on the opposite deck at the touch of a button.

For monitoring, a headphone output with gain control, split function and direct monitoring is provided. A combined XLR/6.3 mm jack input accepts a microphone; the switchable 48-volt phantom power is intended for compatible condenser microphones. The mic-through connection lets you route the microphone signal to the mixer.

The bundle is suited to a DVS setup with turntables or CD players and an external mixer. According to the product description, the two Ortofon Concorde Digitrack cartridges are optimised for timecode vinyl; the Spin! software can also play WAV, MP3, WMA, OGG Vorbis and audio CDs. Timecode control via vinyl or CD and direct access to key software functions are the main selection criteria for this set.
