Product description Rane Serato Pressings J Dilla Donut Shop Control Vinyl
Six J Dilla instrumentals on side A and Serato timecode on the reverse make this double vinyl a combination of a music pressing and a DJ control medium. The limited Donut Shop set contains two control vinyls and two matching slipmats.
The tracks selected by J. Rocc are spread across both records: “Safety Dance”, “Sycamore” and “Bars & Twists” are on the first, while “History”, “Move” and “You Can't Hold A Torch” are on the second. The last three tracks are instrumentals from productions for Mos Def, Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes. Six instrumentals by J Dilla make up the musical part of the pressing.
Side B of each record features around ten minutes of Serato NoiseMap control tone. The signal is used to control Serato Scratch Live via a compatible DVS setup: the software uses it to detect the record’s movement and position. The set is specifically designated for Scratch Live.
Two Donut slipmats designed by Studio No. 1 complement the records. The set combines a J Dilla special pressing with matching accessories for a turntable and Scratch Live setup; the track selection and the two timecode sides each serve clearly distinct functions.
