Product description Pro-Ject Essential III George Harrison Edition

A turntable can also make a visual connection to a particular musical history: the George Harrison Edition pairs the Essential III with specially designed artwork. The portrait of the Beatle, Indian-inspired patterns and a mixer graphic visible beneath the platter define the design; the ornamentation is applied as embossed printing on the chassis.

For playback, the model uses a belt drive with a synchronous motor and silicone belt. A diamond-cut aluminium pulley transfers the drive, while the integrated, DC-powered motor control reduces vibrations and speed fluctuations. You switch the speed manually between 33 and 45 rpm. The chassis is made of low-resonance MDF; the 300 mm acrylic platter rests on a felt mat.

The 8.6-inch aluminium tonearm is fitted with sapphire bearings. The pre-fitted Ortofon OM10 is an MM cartridge; according to the stated specifications, compatible cartridges can weigh 3 to 5.5 g. The tracking force can be adjusted from 0 to 25 mN, with 18 mN recommended for the OM10. The stainless-steel platter bearing with its close-tolerance spindle and special decoupling feet are also part of the design.

The quasi-balanced Connect it E phono cable with gold-plated RCA plugs is included for connection to an amplifier. The turntable has no line output and therefore requires an amplifier with a phono input or a separate phono preamplifier. The OM10 and RCA cable are included; the power supply, felt mat and dust cover are also supplied.

The special edition was created in collaboration with Universal Music Group and is limited to 2,500 copies worldwide. It is an interesting choice for vinyl setups if you are looking for a manually switchable belt drive, a pre-fitted MM cartridge and distinctive George Harrison design in one device. The edition combines record playback with collector's design, without compromising the essential features of the Essential III.
