The HDJ 1500 is the latest model of the headphones from Pioneer and closes the gap between the previous HDJ 1000 and the HDJ 2000. Unfortunately I can only make comparisons between the HDJ 1000 and 1500. The first thing you notice about the HDJ 1500 is the very high quality workmanship. The headphones are classy, robust and a real eye-catcher. The headband and the hinges of the HDJ-1500 are made of a stable and light magnesium alloy. Compared to the HDJ 1000, which is made entirely of plastic, the material quality is much better and more stable. This means that you can enjoy your headphones for a longer time and have less fear of breaking points that often occur with the HDJ 1000. The sound of the HDJ 1500 appears fuller, more balanced and creates a clearer spatiality than the HDJ 1000. The highs are cleaner and the bass a little stronger. The innovative sound insulation chamber of the HDJ 1500 has improved the insulation by 4 dB compared to the HDJ 1000. The increased insulation effect is really noticeable and a big plus for the HDJ 1500. When it comes to comfort, the HDJ 1500 is also a real honor. It is comfortable to wear, not too heavy and the cushions are soft on the ears. The HDJ 1000 exerts a lot of pressure and tension on the ears, which after some time leads to inconvenience and the headphones have to be removed. The HDJ 1500 is also firmly seated on the ear, but not so tight due to the other temple construction and the pads are softer. I can wear it for hours without problems, which I could not do with the HDJ 1000. To sum up, the HDJ 1500 is a lot more worthwhile than the HDJ 1000 and I also think that the HDJ 2000 is not much better anymore due to the new sound insulation chamber and material processing on the HDJ 1500. Furthermore, the HDJ 2000 costs a lot more than the HDJ 1500 and the differences are minimal. Because of the price-performance ratio I would tend to the HDJ 1500 rather than the HDJ 2000. So if you want top quality DJ headphones you can get a HDJ 1500 without a doubt. The 10-20 euro surcharge in contrast to the HDJ 1000 is worthwhile in any case and pays off from the start.
