If a DDJ-WeGO or DDJ-ERGO is to be used with an iPad instead of a laptop, the Y-cable for controller and iPad connects both devices and provides a separate USB power supply to the controller. The Pioneer DJC-WeCAi is designed for the controllers mentioned and the djay and vjay apps from Algoriddim.

With djay, you can mix music from the iPad’s iTunes library and use controller functions such as scratching, Hot Cues, loops, samples and effects. vjay is designed for video and visual mixes with videos, music tracks and images on the iPad. The controller controls, including Pulse Control, are supported; MIX PULSE is not supported.

The additional USB-A port supplies power to the DDJ-WeGO or DDJ-ERGO via a USB power adapter or a portable USB-A battery. This means the setup can also be operated without a mains socket. However, the power supply does not charge the iPad; the power adapter and battery are required separately. To connect to the iPad, you also need the Apple Camera Connection Kit or the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, depending on the connection; these are also sold separately.

For the iPad operation described, the product information specifies iOS 6 and firmware version 1.08 for the DDJ-WeGO or 1.40 for the DDJ-ERGO. djay version 1.6.4 or later or vjay version 1.1.2 or later is also required; vjay is compatible with iPad 2 or later. The controller, app version and iPad must be compatible with one another for the controls to work.

The cable is suitable for a setup in which you combine a supported WeGO or ERGO controller with an iPad and the Algoriddim apps mentioned. The key requirements are the appropriate iPad adapter, the required updates and a separate power source for the controller.
