Great for coming up with ideas, not ideal for finishing them
Great sequencer for coming up with ideas. If you've used the Elektron sequencer what's on offer here is similar, but with a lot of dedicated controls to specify scales, program in microtimings, create chord progressions and flip those programmed sequences on their head with the various playback modes. There's dedicated controls for nearly all of these, which makes it very inviting to mess with programmed patterns.
However, it's not great at finishing songs from A to Z. Once you have a few patterns going things start feeling a lot clunkier. There's no easy way to quickly set parameters globally (e.g. for every instrument) which can become very annoying with things like scales or swing settings. There's also no way to chain different patterns to create full songs.
I still really like it overall, but I record patterns I like into an SP-404 mk2 or drag record midi into my DAW and take it from there.
