With the Pioneer DJ DM-40D, you get an active monitor speaker pair designed for two ways of working: precise production at your desk and powerful pre-listening during a DJ set. The built-in Class-D amplifier works with a 96 kHz sampling DSP and adjusts the sound using a switch on the rear. This lets you quickly switch between a more neutral production sound and a fuller DJ tuning.
Two sound profiles, one compact setup
The rear-mode switch makes the monitors particularly flexible. In Production mode, the focus is on balanced playback, while DJ mode makes the sound come across more powerful. The DSP automatically adjusts the sound tuning to the selected application, without you having to search through menus for a long time or use additional software.
That’s handy when you prepare music using the same speaker pair, check mixes, or edit your own tracks. The DM-40D are active, meaning the amplifier is already integrated. You don’t need a separate amp and can connect them directly into your setup.
Clear design for bass and detail
Each monitor features a 4-inch woofer and a 3/4-inch soft-dome tweeter. The combination delivers direct, clean and intelligible playback in nearfield. The Class-D amplifier provides 19 watts per side and suits smaller to medium-sized work areas, home studios, or DJ corners.
The built-in time correction aligns the high- and low-frequency ranges with each other. As a result, the frequencies reach your ears more coherently. Vocals, drums, and synths don’t sound pulled apart, but instead come across as cohesive and well defined.
A wider sweet spot instead of a narrow listening position
The newly designed DECO convex diffusers spread high frequencies more broadly throughout the room. This creates a more spacious stereo image that doesn’t just work precisely in the centre. The wide 3D stereo impression helps you with mixing, pre-listening, and relaxed music listening at your desk.
The enclosure is also designed for clean playback. Pioneer DJ uses an MDF enclosure in a bass-reflex design with grooved air channels. These reduce air friction in the port and support controlled bass playback, even when the monitors are positioned close to the wall.
Connect without detours
For typical DJ and studio setups, Cinch and 3.5 mm stereo phono plugs are available as inputs. This makes it easy to connect controllers, mixers, audio interfaces, laptops, or compact playback devices. The headphone output in 3.5 mm format also adds a practical touch to everyday use.
