Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV5 is a 2-channel performance controller for Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox, combining classic scratch feel with modern software control. The layout takes inspiration from a battle setup with turntables and a mixer, but brings features like stems, Piano Play and Auto BPM Transition right under your fingers. Large jog wheels, a precise MAGVEL-FADER and the thoughtfully arranged pads, faders and FX lever controls make it a controller for creative sets, clean transitions and quick live interventions.
The long tempo faders sit horizontally over the decks, while performance pads and lever FX are placed close to the mixer area. This makes the controls feel familiar when you come from turntablism or prefer a setup with PLX turntables and a DJM-S mixer. Especially when scratching, beat-juggling and using effects quickly, everything stays exactly where you intuitively expect it.
The large jog wheels have a grippy vinyl texture and respond precisely to your movements. With Jog Feel you can adjust the resistance feel to match your style. The built-in displays show you the playback position in the track, so you stay on top of things when cueing, scratching and navigating quickly.
The robust MAGVEL crossfader is designed for precise cuts, fast movements and clean scratch techniques. It translates small hand movements directly and consistently. This is particularly important when you’re working with chirps, transformers, crabs or beat-juggling and want to rely on a controlled fader feel.
Even with intensive use, the controller stays clearly structured. Trim, 3-band EQ, filters, FX control and performance pads work together seamlessly. This lets you not only mix your transitions, but also actively shape them without having to constantly switch between the software view and the hardware.
With the dedicated stem buttons, you can separate individual elements of a track and control them directly on the device. In Serato DJ Pro, you work with vocals, drums, bass and melody. In rekordbox, vocals, drums and inst are available. That’s how spontaneous mashups, breaks or remixes are created without you needing to prepare your own edits in advance.
In combination with Deck Move and Dual Deck, the controller becomes especially flexible. You can control multiple decks, move stems and build creative layers. This suits open-format sets, hip-hop, electronic music and any situation where you want to reassemble tracks live.
The Piano Play mode uses the 16 performance pads like a small keyboard. Cue points are triggered in different semitone steps, with the layout reminiscent of white and black keys. You can choose from three scales and play melodic ideas, even if you don’t want to go deep into music theory.
In addition, the combo pad mode offers the option to combine different pad functions on a single deck. Hot cues, rolls, saved loops or sampler functions can be linked together more quickly. This makes the pads not just triggers, but a true tool for rhythmic and melodic interventions.
Auto BPM Transition helps you mix tracks with widely different tempos. You set the number of bars, start the transition and the currently playing track gradually adjusts its tempo to the track on the other deck. This can be particularly useful when you switch between genres and want the transition controlled rather than abrupt.
During the transition, you can include functions like stems, auto-loops and key lock. This keeps mixes musically cleaner and gives you more time to prepare the next track. Especially in open-format sets with changing BPM ranges, this feature is a practical tool.
With two USB-C ports for PC or Mac, the controller can be used conveniently for DJ turnarounds. Two computers can remain connected while switching happens directly on the device. This saves time during transitions between two DJs and reduces unnecessary set-up changes during ongoing operation.

Tolles Gerät mit einer Serato bedingten Einschränkung
Tolles Gerät 1A+ volle Punktzahl… Jedoch muss man beachten das sich die Volume Fader von Deck 3 und 4 in Serato nicht mappen lassen. Diese lassen sich nur über die Hauptfader bedienen nachdem mann auf Deck 3 oder 4 am Gerät umschaltet. Ist natürlich nur wichtig, wenn mann es benötigt und es liegt an Serato nicht am Gerät.
Alles in allem, einfach Perfekt für mich.
Das ist nach 12 Jahren, der erste Controller der gerade Zeitgemäß ist, ich würde das Gerät nur mit einem Wow! Bewerten, ich bin total hin und weg und hoffe, der Pioneer DDJ-Rev5 wird mir auch die nächsten 12 Jahre an meiner Seite stehen.

Super Controller im Scratch-Layout
Ich bin richtig begeistert von dem Controller. Ich finde das Layout hervorragend. Er eignet sich einfach super all-in-one Einsteigslösung, um Scratchen zu üben. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Rezensionen finde ich die Haptik der Schalter wirklich hervorragend, alle fühlen sich speziell für ihren Einsatz spezifisch verarbeitet an. Lediglich die Jogwheels kamen mir initial etwas klapprig vor, sie scheinen etwas Spiel zu haben. Ich habe das aber mal mit anderen Pioneer-Controllern ähnlicher Preisstufe verglichen und die fühlen sich leider alle so an :/ ich vermute, das hat etwas mit der mechanischen Lagerung und Drucksensibilität zu tun. Das Gerät ist tatsächlich ein massiver Plastikbomber, aber selbst mit dieser Materialwahl imho gewichtsmäßig schon echt grenzwertig. Ich finde den Trade-Off zu gunsten der Mobilität OK.
Leistung trifft auf Innovation
Der REV5 kombiniert Leistung mit innovativen Features. Die Klangqualität ist herausragend und die Bedienung intuitiv. Besonders gefällt mir die STEMS Integration und der Transition Mode. Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen ist das Fehlen von Jogwheel Displays, aber insgesamt ein Top-Produkt.
Spitzencontroller mit kleinen Schwächen
Nach einer gefühlten Ewigkeit des Wartens aufgrund der wirklich schwierigen Verfügbarkeit, ist der DDJ-REV5 endlich mein! Die Klangqualität ist, dank der dedizierten Stromversorgung, absolut top und die XLR-Ausgänge sorgen für eine professionelle Anbindung. Allerdings trüben noch leichte Software-Unstimmigkeiten und Bugs mit Serato leicht das Gesamtbild. Trotzdem überwiegen die positiven Aspekte wie die gut dosierbaren Jogwheels (Leider ohne DIsplays), die STEMS Integration und der Transition Mode. Es ist ein beeindruckendes Gerät, das zeigt, wie weit DJ-Technologie gekommen ist, auch wenn es noch Raum für Verbesserungen gibt, die hofentlich bald von Pioneer per Update behoben werden
Wirkt billig.
Ich hatte mir die REV5 in voller Vorfreude bestellt und wurde leider enttäuscht. Die Konsolle ist ein einziger Plastikbomber und wirkt von der Verarbeitung her billig. Selbst die Poties, Effektschalter und die Jogweels wirken und fühlen sich lagy und billig an. Des Weiteren fehlt die Möglichkeit den Crossfader auf thru zu stellen, so dann man als Openformat DJ die Linefader benutzen kann. Der Crossfader an sich ist super smooth, wenn man viel Blackmusic auflegt und scratched ist es eine TOP Konsole. Für mich, der viel zwischen unterschiedlichen Genres hin und her switched und nur bei Blackmusic den Crossfader benutzt eher unpraktisch.
