For small sound reinforcement applications, suitable coverage is just as important as a straightforward signal path. The Peavey DM115 is an active two-way loudspeaker with a 15-inch woofer and a separate compression driver. Its 110° x 80° dispersion makes it suitable for PA, speech and music playback, as well as for use as a sidefill or floor monitor.

The two ways are amplified separately and processed by a DSP crossover. Digital processing also handles driver EQ, level adjustment, bass boost, limiting and a subsonic filter. Dynamic bass boost supplements the signal processing. The amplifiers deliver up to 660 watts of peak dynamic power combined; a compression circuit limits overload. 410 watts peak for the woofer and 250 watts peak for the tweeter are assigned to the respective ways.

A combined input accepts balanced XLR and 6.3 mm TRS signals. The Mic/Line switch selects the appropriate input gain: in Mic position, it increases by 20 dB, allowing a dynamic microphone to be connected directly. Phantom power is not available. You can adjust the output level with the Gain control; the XLR Thru output passes the input signal on to additional loudspeakers or a subwoofer. XLR/6.3 mm TRS combo input and XLR Thru make up the connections.

The display and Push-to-Select rotary control guide you through the DSP settings. Factory EQs and a total of 32 presets are available. Bass, treble, polarity and signal delay can be adjusted; you can save changes as a custom preset and recall them later. The delay can be set to up to 15 ms, and saved presets can be given a name of up to 16 characters. Saving and recalling custom DSP settings helps you prepare recurring setups.

The injection-moulded trapezoidal enclosure has two angled rear edges for monitor use and an integrated stand socket for poles with a diameter of 36 mm. The powder-coated perforated grille covers the front; a fan cools the amplifiers. Stand or floor monitor use makes the DM115 a suitable solution for mobile PA, DJ and live music setups where an active 15-inch loudspeaker with DSP and a loop-through signal is required.
