Product description Ortofon OM-78 Stylus

78 rpm shellac records require a dedicated stylus. The Ortofon OM-78 Stylus is a replacement stylus for playing 78 rpm records and can be fitted to compatible cartridges.

The stylus is compatible with Ortofon cartridges in the OM, Super OM, OMB, OMP and TM ranges, as well as Concorde-STD models. This lets you equip a suitable cartridge for shellac records without replacing the entire cartridge. Before replacing it, check whether your specific model belongs to one of these ranges.

The stylus has a spherical tip with a tip radius of 65 µm. A tracking force of 2.0 g is recommended; the permissible range is between 1.75 and 2.25 g. The stylus weighs 1 g and is black.

This replacement stylus is therefore suitable for turntable setups used to play shellac records when a compatible Ortofon cartridge is available. Playback requires a turntable that supports 78 rpm.
