Numark Matrix 3

Three independently adjustable channels provide room for multiple sources and can be combined precisely using the crossfader. The Numark Matrix 3 as a 3-channel DJ mixer combines phono and line inputs with scratch and cue functions for classic turntable and CD player setups.

Each channel has gain, a three-band equaliser and a fader. You can select the channels assigned to the crossfader and adjust the crossfade curve; a switch lets you reverse or deactivate it. The high, mid and bass kill switches affect the assigned signals. Depending on the setting, the punch buttons switch to the opposite signal or interrupt the output — useful for short transform effects.

For pre-listening, you can route the channels and microphone to the headphones individually or together. Use the mix control to blend the cue signal with the master signal; Split/Blend determines whether the two signals are heard separately on each side of the headphones or together. Two headphones can be connected at the same time. Fader start can start compatible playback devices using the movement of the crossfader; compatible devices and connection cables are required.

For announcements, there is a microphone input with its own volume control and two-band tone control. An external effects processor can be integrated via the stereo send and return; Process sends selected channels or the microphone to the send, while Process Blend mixes the effect and master signals. The separate record output is intended for recordings and is not affected by the master or booth volume.

Master and Zone outputs are available for the main and monitor systems. The manual also lists balanced jack outputs and a Booth output. The two 12 V BNC sockets are for connecting gooseneck lights. The three channels and external effects loop make this mixer a suitable control centre for DJ setups with multiple analogue sources, separate headphone cueing and a record output.
