Numark iCDMIX 2

A standalone DJ setup with two CD decks and mixer saves the need for additional individual devices and cabling. The Numark iCDMIX 2 as an all-in-one DJ system adds an iPod dock to this combination and is suitable for mobile use as well as fixed rack installations.

The decks play audio CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Electronically buffered anti-shock protection helps prevent playback dropouts caused by vibrations. Use the jog/shuttle wheels to search through a track, correct the tempo using pitch bend or control the playback position when setting a cue point. For beat matching, the speed can be adjusted by ±4, ±8 or ±16 per cent.

Playback options include single and continuous playback, as well as programmable track sequences. You can set cue points in real time; both decks support seamless loops. Automatic BPM detection helps with tempo matching and can be corrected manually using Tap Tempo. When Fader Start is enabled, a paused, cued deck starts playing when you move the crossfader.

The mixer has three channels, including a separate iPod channel and a microphone channel. The main channels can be switched between the internal CD decks and external inputs. Pre-listening via PFL is available through the 6.3 mm and 3.5 mm jack headphone outputs; the volume and cue mix are adjustable. The crossfader is replaceable.

On the rear panel, you'll find two switchable line/phono RCA inputs for external playback devices or turntables, as well as an additional AUX RCA input. There are also two microphone inputs – one with an XLR or 6.3 mm jack socket, and the second with a 6.3 mm jack socket. For connection to a PA system or monitoring equipment, there are balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA master outputs, as well as a separately adjustable RCA zone output.

The integrated universal dock is designed for compatible iPods with the matching dock connector; an iPod is not included. The metal housing has rack ears for mounting. This makes the unit suitable for mobile DJ setups and installations where CD playback, external sources, a microphone and an iPod are to be brought together in one system.
