Numark DMC2

Anyone moving from a traditional dual CD player to software-based DJing will find a familiar layout on the Numark DMC-2. The DJ software controller can be mounted in a rack or flight case, and its non-slip feet also allow it to be used as a tabletop unit. Its focus is on direct access to key DJ functions, without having to reach for the mouse for every task.

The two decks are equipped with jog wheels, pitch faders and illuminated buttons for playback, pause, cue, hot cue and key lock. They also include looping, pitch bend and sync functions. The jog wheels with scratch function control audio and video material in supported software; full-screen video output requires the full version of CUE.

The displays show information for each deck, including track, BPM, time and pitch. The Time button switches between elapsed and remaining play time. Use the rotary encoder to select folders and tracks; depending on the selected mode, you can also use it to control effects or samples. Track navigation and display directly on the controller keep common selection and monitoring tasks on the device.

The controller connects to your computer via USB 2.0. It must be activated in the DJ software for control; with Numark CUE LE, there is no need to map the software parameters separately. The included version of CUE LE supports Instant Start and scratching of audio and video files. Operation requires compatible DJ software; the specific functions depend on the programme used.

Automix and fader buttons handle quick transitions and crossfades without an external mixer. Illuminated rubber buttons, video mix buttons, and controls for samples and effects complement the deck controls. With its 19-inch housing with three rack units, the DMC-2 fits into rack setups and mobile DJ cases; rubber feet are included for tabletop use.
