Product description Numark Controller NDX900

Play CDs, MP3 CDs and USB storage devices directly on the deck, or control DJ software via MIDI: the Numark NDX900 combines a CD player and software controller in one device. Its illuminated, touch-sensitive 7-inch jog wheel supports scratching and manual adjustment of playback speed. Files must be in MP3 format for USB playback.

Connect the deck to a computer via USB and use it as a MIDI controller or as a 24-bit USB audio interface. The interface is plug-and-play; no timecode is required for MIDI control. The NDX900 comes pre-mapped for Virtual DJ and can be used with MIDI-compatible DJ software. Traktor LE 2 is listed as included.

To help you match tracks, the device automatically analyses the tempo; you can enter the BPM value manually using Tap Tempo. The pitch range can be set to ±6, ±12, ±25 or ±100 per cent. Key Lock keeps the pitch constant when the tempo changes, while the Pitch Bend buttons allow quick corrections when beatmatching.

The deck offers seamless loops with an adjustable endpoint, sampling and three trigger buttons for samples or Hot Cues. With Bleep/Reverse, you can edit the track in reverse or with short cuts while playback continues in time. The six DSP effects—Chop, Echo, Filter, Flanger, Pan and Phaser—can be synchronised to the tempo and adjusted using a Wet-Dry fader.

A backlit display shows BPM, track and time information, CD information and MP3 tags, and supports folder navigation. Analogue RCA and digital S/PDIF outputs are available for connecting other DJ equipment. Fader Start requires a compatible mixer; Relay Play connects two compatible CD players for alternating playback. This makes the NDX900 a good fit for setups that combine CD and USB playback with software control and direct DJ controls.
