Numark 4Trak

Combining four software decks and external sources in one mix requires direct access to both. The Numark 4Trak combines a 4-deck Traktor controller with a standalone 4-channel mixer that also works without a connected computer. Its controls are designed for Traktor; MIDI control also allows you to use it with other MIDI-compatible DJ software.

For each channel, you can choose between the corresponding software deck and an external source. Each channel has RCA inputs, as well as four line inputs; two of these can alternatively be used as phono inputs, and two as microphone inputs. This lets you incorporate turntables, line-level players or microphones into the mix and switch between hardware and software as needed.

The FX KOMMAND CONSOLE with 12 controls is located on the unit for controlling effects. Effects can be accessed directly for each channel. The touch-sensitive jog wheels have a resolution of 3,600 ticks per revolution and automatically adjust their sensitivity. Two-colour LEDs indicate the active deck and playback status; the Strip-Search touch strips with LED position indicators let you jump directly to a point in the track.

Key transport and mixing functions are also directly accessible, including Pitch Control, Master Tempo, manual and instant looping, and Hot Cues. Beat Skip and Grid control support rhythmic skipping and juggling without losing track synchronisation. You can also navigate your music library from the surface without a mouse.

The integrated 24-bit USB audio interface transfers audio signals from the computer; balanced XLR outputs connect to the downstream PA or audio system. The controller and mixer feature a metal construction. The package includes TRAKTOR 2 4TRAK Edition 2 software.

The 4Trak is suited to DJ setups where four Traktor decks, external players and microphones are to run through a shared mixer. Particularly relevant are the combination of computer operation and a standalone mixer, the switchable inputs and the direct effects and deck control.
