MK3 machine

The machine MK3 is a great development to the predecessor MK2. It's so much fun to play with. The "workflow" is much better than its predecessor. The only thing I miss is the lack of a gain control for the audio input. But it's not that tragic. You can also solve it differently. Everything fits, great also from Recordcase, that there is also the choice of deck saver, bag or USB stick for the same price.

Music production powerhouse

I got my first Maschine second hand MK1 5 years ago. It took me months of trials and errors combining FL studio with Maschine software using it as a VST to later realize Maschine is acutally everything I need.

Even though Maschine doesn't have a linear playlist (at least not at the time of writing this), I completely migrated to producing music solely on maschine hw/sw and I never looked back. It just feels so natural writing music and jamming on this piece of gear as if you are a conductor of a big live band.

I would say this thing is an instrument of its kind and not just the controller. And that is me saying that for each and every version and generation of Maschine. But MK3 is definitely something special. It arrived just a few days ago and I fell in love after just an hour of playing on it.

The workflow is way more meaningful and faster, touch strip adds natural feel to a group and everything is way more responsive than the first version. Pads feel amazing and the screens show so much information that I don't even look at my computer screen, which is one of the reasons I made the plunge and bought it.

One thing I wish it was different is weight — it is a bit heavier than MK1, but that makes sense because of the added modules. Otherwise, I wouldn't change anything.

Not really bad ...

Device and software together are really a great combination for producing beats or sets. Live certainly just as great. What bothers me is that the machine only works in conjunction with a PC. For the price, an integrated hard drive with sample bank would be an advantage. It would also be desirable to have proper operating instructions in book form so that you don't have to print 100 pages ...

Productive workflow

Despite the numerous functions, access to all parameters is always very direct. Even as a beginner, after a short familiarization period, I achieved a workflow that focuses on creativity and not looking for any functions in the depths of nested menus. In this way, ideas can be implemented very quickly. The entire concept of the interaction of hardware and software is very well thought out. Not only the great displays allow you to work almost exclusively on the machine. The processing and quality of the machine is really great.

I am very pleased

As a beginner when it comes to making music, I can't say much yet. The hardware / controls seem to me to be of high quality. The machine software works well and it is fun to work with. The included sounds / plug-ins are extensive and seem to be of good quality. The available manuals (downloads) surprise with extensive explanations and give the beginner good help.

Compared to the MK2 version, the upgrade took time and came around the corner rather unusually, but was due for a long time. I skipped the MK2 upgrade because a little bit of lighting and minimally improved displays were simply not worth the money again. The MK3 offers a lot more and the upgrade is really justified here. So I struck users of the still MK1 version. In addition to the beautiful displays from the machine studio, an audio interface has finally been integrated. Turntables can be connected and sampled directly. Very nice! Pads have also been improved, are now much bigger and thicker and can now be played much more nuanced. I work a lot with chords and I think it's very good that the function has its own key and I no longer have to use shift. Otherwise, many little things have improved, which make working with the software much more pleasant. A really good upgrade for MK2 users too. Price has not increased, which I find commendable for the abundance of features!
