For DJ monitoring, it helps to turn one earcup away without taking the headphones off completely. The closed-back over-ear headphones Monster N-Pulse with swivel earcups are designed for this way of working and can also be used for listening to music and making phone calls.

The soft earpads enclose the ears; the closed-back design blocks out ambient noise. The sound tuning emphasises the low frequencies. This puts bass-heavy sound centre stage when previewing tracks or listening to music on the go.

Both earcups can be swivelled and folded upwards out of the way. This lets you monitor the headphones with one ear while using the other to hear your surroundings when DJing, without taking the headphones off. The detachable ControlTalk cable has the microphone and control unit built directly into the cable.

You can answer and end calls using the ControlTalk Universal button; the integrated microphone is for hands-free calls. Skype compatibility is also specified. In addition, the earcups feature LED light effects that illuminate in time with the music. You need two AAA batteries for this lighting; the on/off switch is located on the cable’s battery compartment.

The N-Pulse was developed in collaboration with actor Nick Cannon and is wired. With a 3.5 mm jack connector and a 6.3 mm connector via an adapter, it can be connected to compatible mobile devices and audio outputs. The stated colour options are black and white. For DJ sets with flexible single-ear monitoring, the swivel earcups, detachable microphone cable and jack connectors are particularly relevant.
