Product description Marantz Audio Scope SG-17P

For outdoor recording and broadcast, speech must remain intelligible even when noise from the sides interferes with the recording. The Marantz Audio Scope SG-17P is a long shotgun microphone for broadcast, theatre, TV and film productions, as well as sound reinforcement applications. Its long interference tube with high directivity helps capture sound specifically from the recording direction.

The electret condenser microphone has a supercardioid-lobar polar pattern and rejects off-axis sound. This makes it possible to capture speakers or other sound sources with greater focus in noisy environments, with speech intelligibility remaining the key criterion for use. The frequency response ranges from 30 to 16,000 Hz.

You can use the microphone on a camera, on a boom pole or in a remote position. A windscreen, mounting clip and carrying case are included. Optional boom poles, available in lengths of 9 or 11 feet, are offered with or without an integrated XLR cable.

With its slim, long body, the SG-17P is suitable for mobile recording and setups where directional microphone placement is required. The combination of directivity and compact design suits camera, boom and outdoor productions where side noise needs to be reduced and speech captured clearly.
