Product description M-Audio MobilePre USB

For mobile recording with a laptop, you need a preamp that sends microphone and instrument signals directly to the computer. The M-Audio MobilePre USB combines a USB audio interface with two input preamps and is powered directly via USB; a separate power supply or batteries are not required.

Connect microphones to the two balanced XLR inputs. The switchable 48 V phantom power supplies suitable condenser microphones. There is also a stereo microphone input in mini-jack format, as well as two high-impedance instrument/line inputs for sources such as guitar or bass. You can adjust the input level for each channel; signal and clip LEDs help you monitor the levels.

For recording, you can monitor the input signal via zero-latency direct monitoring without any audible delay. Monitoring operates in mono or stereo; the volume can be controlled via software. The signal path is available independently of the computer and is particularly useful when recording if you want to monitor the input signals directly.

Two mono line outputs and one stereo line output are available for connecting monitoring equipment. A separate stereo headphone output has its own volume control. Analogue input and output are at 16-bit resolution; supported sample rates include 44,1 and 48 kHz. You can find other available sample rates in the technical specifications.

The device is designed for older computer systems. The specified operating systems are Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and Mac OS X 10.2.6 or later; a native USB port is required for connection. USB ports via a keyboard and G3/G4 accelerator cards are not supported. Check the operating system and computer requirements before using it with your computer.

The MobilePre USB is suitable for laptop recording, field recording and simple recording setups where two microphone or instrument signals need to be recorded and monitored directly. The key features are the two inputs, USB power supply and suitable computer compatibility.
