If several synthesizers, keyboards or sound modules need to exchange MIDI data with a computer, each device needs its own connection. The M-Audio Midisport 4x4 Anniversary Edition connects four MIDI inputs and four MIDI outputs to a computer. The anniversary edition features a new design and can be powered via USB.

Each of the four inputs and outputs carries 16 MIDI channels. This means the interface handles a total of 64 MIDI channels in each direction. In your music software, you can assign the ports to the connected devices and tracks to transfer MIDI data specifically between instruments, the computer and sound modules.

The device connects via USB and does not require a separate power adapter. USB power also makes it suitable for mobile setups. A MIDI activity indicator for each port shows which connections are transmitting data.

The Anniversary Edition is class-compliant and can be used under Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X for basic MIDI input and output without additional drivers. M-Audio drivers are required for advanced features under Windows. The interface is compact and lightweight; via the USB connection, it operates at USB 2.0 Full Speed and is backward-compatible with USB 1.1.

The Midisport 4x4 is suitable for home studio and mobile MIDI setups where several external instruments or sound modules need to be connected independently to music software.
