Product description M-Audio MIDI Axiom 49 advanced
For controlling DAW mixers and virtual instruments, the M-Audio Axiom 49 - Advanced combines 49 semi-weighted keys with extensive MIDI controls. The velocity-sensitive keyboard supports assignable aftertouch; eight trigger pads are suitable for playing drum parts and triggering samples. This allows you to control notes and essential software functions from a single keyboard.
Nine faders and eight endless rotary encoders give you direct access to mixer and instrument parameters. In DirectLink mode, the controls can be automatically mapped to matching functions of a supported DAW, such as transport, mixer, track pan, and virtual instruments. The specific mapping depends on the DAW used and its DirectLink support.
For virtual instruments, the Instrument mode can assign the knobs and faders to the parameters of the selected track. Additionally, Axiom Instrument Maps are available for specific instruments; these may need to be installed to match the software. Without automatic mapping, you can also freely assign the controllers to MIDI controller numbers and MIDI channels.
The angled control surface and the centrally placed LCD facilitate an overview of settings and values. With the Controller Mute function, you can temporarily suppress the transmission of controller data, for instance when moving a knob, to avoid unwanted parameter jumps. The snapshot function sends the current controller settings.
The keyboard transmits MIDI data via USB and also features standard MIDI inputs and outputs. It can be powered via USB or an optional power supply. With its keys, pads, and freely assignable controls, the model fits into a studio setup for DAW control and for playing virtual instruments.
