Product description Livid ALIAS 8
Eight compact channel strips make the Livid ALIAS 8 a handy MIDI controller for live mixing and software control. Via USB, it sends class-compliant MIDI data to MIDI-compatible audio and video software; no separate power supply is required.
Each of the eight channels has a 30 mm fader, two rotary controls and two RGB-lit buttons. There is also a 60 mm master fader. The layout is modelled on a mixing desk and is suitable for adjusting levels and parameters, for example. Depending on the software, the buttons can be used to select tracks or start clips, for instance.
Use the detented encoder to switch between 15 banks on separate MIDI channels. This lets you assign different mappings to different banks. Press the encoder to switch it to its second function as a CC rotary control, for example for navigating tracks or setting a cue level.
The controls can be freely assigned. You can adjust MIDI settings and LED colours using the Livid Editor; integrations are available for Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, Traktor, Reason and FL Studio, among others. The specific controls depend on the software and its mapping.
Two analogue expansion ports accommodate Livid-XPC or DIY controllers with up to 16 additional controls in total. The robust aluminium case is hand-built in Austin, Texas. Its compact dimensions make the ALIAS 8 a good fit for mobile setups and suitable for DJ, VJ and studio applications where you want to control many MIDI parameters directly on the device.
