When several wireless microphones are being used on stage at the same time, the number of usable channels is crucial. The digital Line6 XD-V35 transmits vocals in the 2.4 GHz ISM band and supports six channels that can be used simultaneously. The set includes a tabletop receiver and a dynamic handheld transmitter with a cardioid polar pattern and a sound profile modelled on the Shure SM58.
Digital Channel Lock technology (DCL) encodes the audio signal so that the receiver can distinguish it from other signals in the frequency band. The transmission operates without a compander and uses frequency diversity with two frequencies per channel, as well as spatial diversity with digital buffering. An adjustable dynamic filter reduces ambient noise while preserving the natural articulation of the voice.
You can check the wireless and battery status on the receiver using the LED indicators; another LED shows when an audio signal is present. According to the specifications, no level or squelch settings are required. For connection to a mixer, a balanced XLR output and an unbalanced 6.3 mm jack output are available. Connect the XLR cable to a microphone input, just as you would with a wired microphone.
System latency is less than 3.5 ms, and the range is up to 83 metres under suitable conditions; it depends on obstacles and radio interference in the surrounding area. The handheld transmitter runs for up to eight hours on two AA alkaline batteries and indicates a low battery level with an LED. The system is designed for licence-free operation worldwide.
The XD-V35 is suitable for vocal applications using a single wireless microphone or up to six channels in parallel. If you are using an older XD-V30 receiver, the transmitter must switch from RF2 to RF1 mode for this purpose. This makes the set particularly suitable for live vocals with direct connection to a mixer, provided the radio environment and required range are appropriate for the venue.
