Product description Lexicon I-ONIX U22
When setting the levels for a recording, you want to hear the input signal without relying on delayed playback from the DAW. The Lexicon I-Onix U22 is a USB 2.0 audio interface for desktop recording, with zero-latency direct monitoring and two analogue mic/line channels.
Both combo sockets accept microphone or line signals. The integrated dbx microphone preamps operate at high voltage with low self-noise; 48-volt phantom power can be switched on for condenser microphones. There is also an instrument input on the side for guitars and other instruments. When this is in use, mic/line input 1 is disabled.
The Monitor Mix control blends the incoming input signal with the computer’s playback signal. This lets you adjust the balance directly on the device while recording. LED indicators show the input levels; separate level indicators are also provided for the outputs. A headphone output with its own volume control is located on the side.
Two balanced line outputs on the rear are ready for connecting active monitors, a mixer or an amplifier. MIDI In and MIDI Out let you connect compatible keyboards and other MIDI devices. The computer connection is via USB 2.0; Windows WDM and ASIO as well as Mac CoreAudio are supported. The sample rate depends on the audio application being used and can be 44.1, 48, 88.2 or 96 kHz.
The software bundle includes Steinberg Cubase LE 4 for audio and MIDI recording, Toontrack EZ Drummer lite and the Lexicon Pantheon II reverb plug-in. This makes the interface suitable for compact recording setups that need microphone, line or instrument inputs, headphone monitoring and MIDI connectivity. Two analogue inputs and zero-latency monitoring are the key criteria for choosing it.
