When mixing, a monitor helps by reproducing spatial detail clearly and allowing you to adapt it to the listening room. The KRK RP6 G2 is an active two-way studio monitor with a 6-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter. Its rounded cabinet with a tweeter waveguide reduces edge diffraction and supports even reproduction, including outside the direct listening axis.

The glass-Aramid composite woofer reproduces bass and transients; the textile dome handles the high frequencies. A front-facing bass reflex port reduces airflow noise and avoids rear bass coupling with walls, which can occur when placing the monitor close to a wall. The active crossover and separate amplifiers for the tweeter and woofer split the signal between the two drivers.

For adapting the monitor to the room and signal source, the rear panel has an input level control and a four-step high-frequency control. The level can be set from −30 to +6 dB; you can boost the highs above 2 kHz by +1 dB or attenuate them by 0 dB, −1 dB or −2 dB. Three input types – XLR, 6.3 mm jack and RCA – cover balanced and unbalanced connections.

The RP6 G2 is suitable for nearfield monitoring when producing and mixing in home and project studios. Its choice of connections, adjustable high frequencies and compact two-way design make it a suitable option if you are looking for a single active monitor for your existing studio setup.
