When monitoring a mix, clear mids and well-defined highs matter, without the monitor colouring the sound too much. The KRK RP5 G3 Platinum is an active 2-way studio monitor with 50 watts that combines a 5-inch woofer with a 1-inch soft-dome tweeter. It is suitable for playing back and evaluating music productions in the studio.

The woofer is made from a lightweight glass-aramid composite material; the tweeter extends up to 35 kHz. A tuned waveguide design supports spatial imaging. The monitor's frequency response is specified as 45 Hz to 35 kHz, with a crossover frequency of 2.6 kHz. The front-firing bass reflex port extends low-frequency reproduction and reduces coupling with adjacent surfaces.

You can use the separate high- and low-frequency controls to adjust the sound to suit the room acoustics and your listening preferences. The high-frequency settings are −2 dB, −1 dB, 0 dB and +1 dB, while the low-frequency settings are −2 dB, −1 dB, 0 dB and +2 dB. The overall volume is also adjustable; after 30 minutes, the monitor automatically switches to standby.

For connection to a mixing desk, audio interface or other signal sources, there are unbalanced RCA and balanced TRS and XLR inputs. The MDF cabinet has a factory-fitted foam pad to isolate it from the surface it is placed on. In the Platinum finish, the monitor is suited to studio setups where tone controls, multiple analogue input options and a compact 5-inch size are required.
