JBL PRX518S

An active subwoofer with an 18-inch driver extends a full-range PA into the low-frequency range and can also pass the signal on to the top speakers. The JBL PRX-518S combines a 500 W Class-D amplifier with DSP control and stereo-configured inputs and outputs. This allows you to integrate it into a sub-satellite system without having to connect the top speakers separately to the mixer.

A JBL 2044E VGC woofer with a diameter of 460 mm operates inside the 18 mm plywood enclosure. The DSP section offers a selectable crossover and switchable polarity, allowing you to adjust the integration with the full-range speakers. The high-pass filter for the connected top speakers can also be switched on or off; the signal and overload indicators help you monitor the input level using the control.

For connections, balanced XLR/6.3 mm combo sockets are available as stereo inputs, along with stereo outputs with XLR. The enclosure has an integrated pole mount for sub-satellite setups, which can accommodate an SS3-BK. A steel grille backed with foam protects the driver; the grille extends around the sides of the enclosure. Two recessed die-cast handles make transport easier, while the DuraFlex coating protects the plywood surface.

The subwoofer is particularly well suited to the PRX512M and PRX515 full-range models and is suitable for portable PA setups where an active 18-inch sub with stereo pass-through and adjustable integration is required. 500 watts of continuous power and 1,000 watts of peak power, along with the dimensions and weight, help you assess the power and transport requirements for your setup.
