In a compact PA system, a speaker with an integrated mixer can accept several signal sources directly. The active JBL EON 510 combines this function with a 10-inch two-way system and a Class-D amplifier for sound reinforcement and monitor use. Integrated 3-channel mixer and separate input controls make it easy to use without a separate mixing desk.

For microphones, input 3 can be switched between mic and line level; it uses a balanced XLR/jack combo socket. Inputs 1 and 2 are balanced 6.3 mm jack connections for line signals. Use the switch on the XLR output to choose between the mix signal and a loop-through signal when connecting additional speakers. This means you can connect mic and line signals directly to a single speaker.

The tone controls offer Flat, Boost and Cut settings. Boost raises the bass and treble; Cut activates a high-pass filter at 120 Hz. This filter is also relevant for subwoofer use when the EON 510 operates as a top speaker in a sub-satellite system. A dynamic limiter protects against overload; Signal, Limit and Mic/Line LEDs indicate the current operating status. Three EQ presets are available for adjustment.

The 10-inch woofer with Differential Drive technology and the 1-inch neodymium compression driver are amplified separately: 220 watts of continuous power are assigned to the low-frequency section and 60 watts to the high-frequency section. The enclosure can be set up as a main speaker or monitor. Mounting options include a 36 mm pole mount with a stabilising screw, three M10 suspension points and one M10 pull-back point. Main and monitor use are both supported.

At 7.7 kg and with a rubberised handle, the speaker is comparatively easy to transport. The enclosure is made of impact-resistant polypropylene copolymer; a powder-coated perforated metal grille with an acoustically transparent black backing protects the speakers. Rubberised carrying handle and low weight support mobile use at events and during setup and dismantling.
