Product description Gibson LP8 - Cherry
When positioning a studio monitor, the location of the bass reflex port helps determine how close the speaker can be to the wall. The active Gibson LP8 - Cherry has its port on the front, allowing it to be positioned more flexibly in the room. The 2-way system uses bi-amping and an 8-inch woofer made from non-woven carbon.
The highs are handled by a 1-inch titanium tweeter with a diamond-like carbon coating. The separate bass and treble controls each offer seven settings from -4 to +4 dB. This lets you adjust the playback to suit the room and placement; the overall volume is controlled separately.
Inputs comprise balanced XLR and 6.3 mm jack sockets, as well as an RCA input. This allows you to connect the monitor to audio interfaces, mixing desks and other line-level sources. The balanced inputs are suitable for corresponding studio connections, while RCA also accommodates unbalanced sources.
The Cherry version draws on Les Paul design features, with a gloss-lacquered, arched, carved flame maple front. The cabinet is made from 15 mm MDF. At 13.8 kg, and given its dimensions, you should allow for sufficient space and load capacity when placing it on a desk or stand. For home and project studios, the LP8 is an interesting option if you’re looking for an active monitor with an 8-inch woofer, tone controls and several analogue inputs.

Tres studio, super.
Super.
Important questions about the article Gibson LP8 - Cherry
Question: Do I need a separate amplifier for the Gibson LP8?
Answer: No. The LP8 is an active studio monitor with bi-amping and a total output of 247 W.
Question: Which audio sources can I connect directly?
Answer: The monitor offers balanced XLR and 6.3 mm jack inputs as well as RCA. This allows it to be connected to audio interfaces, mixing consoles or other line-level sources, for example.
Question: Is the LP8 suitable for placement close to a wall?
Answer: The bass reflex port is located on the front. This makes placement more flexible than with a monitor featuring a rear bass reflex port, but it does not replace sensible positioning in the room.
Question: Can I adjust the sound to my room?
Answer: Yes. Treble and bass can each be adjusted from -4 to +4 dB to adapt the monitor to the room and listening position.
Question: How deep does the Gibson LP8 play?
Answer: With its 8-inch woofer, the specified frequency response reaches down to 37 Hz. For an active nearfield monitor, it therefore also covers low bass ranges.
Question: Which connections should my audio interface have?
Answer: Balanced XLR or 6.3 mm jack outputs are ideal because the LP8 supports these inputs. RCA is also available if the source does not offer a balanced output.
Question: How much space does a Gibson LP8 require?
Answer: One monitor measures 472 × 306 × 350 mm and weighs 13.8 kg. The available surface and load capacity should therefore be sized adequately for use on a desk or stands.
