Gemini Twin CDMP-5000

Two CD decks, USB playback and a mixer in a 19-inch unit keep the setup compact for mobile DJ gigs. The Gemini CDMP-5000 combines two CD/MP3 players with a 2-channel mixer and also plays MP3 files from USB storage devices. Large jog wheels and displays on the decks support direct control and show important playback information.

Audio CDs, CD-Rs and MP3 files can be played via the two front-loading drives; MP3s can also be loaded from USB mass storage devices. For USB playback, storage devices must be formatted as FAT32. ID3 tags and CD Text make it easier to find your way around, while track and folder search and a multifunction rotary control let you navigate your music collection.

The large jog wheels offer pitch bend and search functions. Small LCDs in the wheels show the direction of rotation and track markers in 90- or 45-degree orientation. Frame search and scan are available for precise positioning; pitch can be adjusted in steps of ±8%, ±16% and ±24%. Seamless Loop and Re-Loop with an adjustable loop end point help you repeat a section directly during playback.

A bright dot-matrix VFD displays the main functions, including BPM and elapsed or remaining playback time. Instant Start, Cue with a preview function and programmable playback with a repeat function round out the player controls. The anti-shock memory buffers playback against vibrations. Single and Continuous modes are available for playing individual tracks or continuous sequences of tracks.

The integrated mixer has gain controls and a 3-band equaliser for each channel. Cue Mix supports previewing, while the 45 mm Rail-Glide crossfader with adjustable curve lets you tailor transitions to your mix. With Fader Start, you can start the players using a compatible fader. Phono and line inputs, as well as a microphone input, let you connect additional sources; master outputs are available as balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA, with a record output also included.

This makes the DJ station suitable for mobile setups and fixed 19-inch rack installations where CD and USB playback, an integrated mixer and connections for external players are required. The combination of two decks and a mixer brings the essential playback and mixing functions together in one device.
