Electro Voice Tour-X TX1181

When adding to the low-frequency range of a passive PA system, integration into the existing signal path matters just as much as the bass level. The Electro-Voice Tour-X TX 1181 is a passive 18-inch subwoofer that extends the bass range of the TX1122 and TX1152 speakers. Its integrated low-pass filter supports operation of the subwoofer and top speaker on a shared amplifier channel.

The filter passes low frequencies to the subwoofer and allows a compatible TX1122 or TX1152 to be connected in parallel. This means the TX 1181 can be used in a suitable combination without an additional amplifier channel for the subwoofer. The nominal passive impedance is 8 Ohm; when planning the amplifier setup, the additional load from the top speaker connected in parallel must also be taken into account. The low-pass filter has a slope of 6 dB per octave.

Two parallel Neutrik NL4 connectors are provided for cabling. An M20 pole-mount flange accepts a distance pole, allowing a TX1122 or TX1152 to be positioned above the subwoofer. The speaker is not designed for flown installation.

The enclosure is made from plywood and MDF and is coated with EVCoat. A powder-coated steel grille with a rotating logo protects the front; four handles make it easier to grip in different positions. Six mounting points on the rear are provided for the separately available TX-W1 roller kit. This makes the subwoofer suitable for passive Tour-X setups that require an 18-inch woofer, the option to connect compatible top speakers and an M20 flange.
