Product description Electro-Voice PX2122
In large-format sound reinforcement systems, coverage and amplification must suit the system configuration. The Electro-Voice PX2122 is a passive two-way loudspeaker for high sound pressure levels that operates exclusively in bi-amp mode: the low- and high-frequency ranges require separate amplifier channels. It is suitable for permanent installations and mobile sound reinforcement, and is designed for use above 80 Hz.
Two 12-inch DVX3121 woofers with forced-air cooling handle the bass range. The high frequencies are handled by two ND2-16 compression drivers with 2-inch voice coils and 1-inch exits; a manifold combines their output. The crossover frequency is 1,600 Hz. The PX2181 subwoofer is recommended for low-frequency extension, allowing you to build a three-way system.
The horn provides nominal coverage of 45° x 30° and can be rotated to adapt the dispersion pattern to the setup. The PX2122 is designed for arrays: up to three loudspeakers can be arranged together, providing up to 135° of horizontal coverage. Integrated M10 mounting points are provided for installation; eyebolts or an optional rigging kit can be used.
Two parallel Neutrik-Speakon NL4 sockets are available for connection. The enclosure is made of 18 mm, 13-ply plywood with tongue-and-groove joints and a black EVCoat finish. A powder-coated steel grille protects the loudspeakers; the logo can be rotated. With a net weight of 50.1 kg and a height of 1,219 mm, this model is designed for large-scale sound reinforcement applications.
The PX2122 is suited to sound reinforcement systems that require high output, defined coverage and separate amplification of the high and low frequencies. It is particularly suitable for installations and mobile rigs where multiple loudspeakers operate as an array or a PX2181 provides low-frequency extension. Bi-amp amplification and suitable positioning are important when planning the system.
