Product description Edirol CS-50
For video and outdoor recording, a stereo microphone must be able to capture both a sense of space and the desired area with precision. The Edirol CS-50 is a compact stereo condenser microphone for this type of recording and was designed especially for the R-4, R-4 Pro and R-44 recorders. Switchable stereo polar patterns let you choose between wider recording and greater focus.
In “WIDE ST” mode, the microphone captures a wider stereo image. “FOCUS” increases sensitivity from the front and focuses the recording more strongly on the sound source there. This lets you adapt the directional response to the recording situation, for example when recording video and reports or for field recording.
A switch activates the 80 Hz low-cut filter to attenuate low frequencies; in the “FLAT” position, the low-frequency range is retained. The microphone requires phantom power for both channels. The five-pin XLR connector on the microphone is split into two three-pin XLR connectors using the supplied stereo cable.
At 83 g and 195 mm in length, the CS-50 can be mounted on a camera or microphone stand. Windscreen and mounts are included; a table stand is also supplied. The model is suitable for videographers, broadcast reporters and sound designers looking for a lightweight stereo directional microphone with switchable recording width and low-cut for recorder or camera setups.
