Ecler eSAM702

In permanently installed sound systems, several microphones and stereo sources often need to be mixed to a shared output. The Ecler eSAM702 is an analogue 7-channel installation mixer in 19-inch format with six switchable MIC/LINE stereo inputs and an additional stereo line input. It occupies one rack unit and is suitable for bars, fitness areas, dance studios and conference rooms, for example.

For the first six channels, you can select microphone or line operation on the rear panel; microphone sensitivity can also be adjusted there. Microphones connect via Euroblock terminals, and +18 V phantom power is available. It can be enabled internally and is switched off by default. Line sources connect via RCA. There is no phono preamp, so turntables cannot be connected directly.

Each of the six MIC/LINE channels can be assigned to the talkover. When a signal is present at an input configured for this function, the other channels are attenuated; the talkover attenuation is 30 dB, with a time setting of two seconds. This allows a microphone, for example, to take priority over the music currently playing. The function can be activated for each channel using switches on the front panel.

The electronically balanced stereo main output uses Euroblock terminals, while the additional AUX/REC output uses an RCA connector and can be used for recording. A ST/MONO switch switches the mix between stereo and mono. The device can be muted via the MUTE connection using an external volt-free contact, for example from a security or fire alarm system.

The three-band tone control acts on the main output and provides ±15 dB at 100 Hz, 2 kHz and 10 kHz respectively. It is adjusted with a screwdriver to prevent the settings from being changed accidentally during operation. You can adjust the input and output levels using the rotary controls on the front panel; an LED level meter displays the Main Mix signal.

With six switchable MIC/LINE channels, a separate stereo line input and two outputs, the mixer is suitable for fixed sound reinforcement and announcement systems that require talkover, external muting or a recording output. Its 1U design makes it easy to install in a 19-inch rack; the screwdriver-adjustable tone control is designed for installations where EQ adjustments are made less frequently.
