DJ-Tech uSOLO MKII

A computer is not required for playback: the DJ-Tech uSOLO MKII HG plays MP3 files directly from USB storage devices and sends the signal via its stereo RCA output to a mixer or sound system. Two USB ports accept storage devices; track and folder search let you find music using ID3 tags or by artist, title, genre or album.

Depending on the selected mode, the jog wheel handles searching, pitch bend, scratch control or the adjustment of effect parameters. Five effects are available for manipulating the track during playback: Flanger, Echo, Filter, Brake and Scratch. The illuminated LCD displays track information and playback status, while the partially illuminated controls help you operate the unit.

For transitions and recurring passages, the player offers a cue function with Auto Cue and real-time cue, as well as seamless looping with reloop. BPM detection can be performed automatically or using Tap. The pitch range can be set to ±6, ±12, ±25 or ±100 per cent; pitch bend and tempo lock provide additional tempo control. An anti-shock function is also included.

Single and continuous play modes determine whether playback stops after a track or continues. Other features include repeat, frame search and various time displays. A jack connection for relay operation is provided; together with the stereo RCA output, it allows the unit to be integrated into a DJ setup with an external mixer. The Magix Audio Cleansing Lab software is listed as included and is used to edit digital recordings.

The player is suited to mobile and stationary DJ setups where MP3 music is to be played directly from USB and controlled without a computer. Two USB inputs, effects and loop functions cover file search, track manipulation and transitions in a compact single player.
