Product description Denon DN-304 S

On a compact desk, a clear listening position is often more important than high volume. The Denon DN-304 S is an active 2-way stereo pair for desktop reference playback and fixed installations. Two drivers per speaker, an integrated waveguide and a 20-watt-per-channel Class A/B amplifier form the basis for reproducing speech and music.

The 4-inch woofer with a polypropylene-coated diaphragm and the 1-inch silk tweeter share the frequency range via a crossover at 2.7 kHz. The waveguide directs the tweeter’s dispersion towards the listening area. A rear bass reflex port supports the reproduction of low frequencies; the MDF cabinet is internally reinforced and fitted with acoustic material to reduce cabinet resonances.

The connections are located on the left, active speaker: the stereo RCA line inputs are on the rear, with an additional 3.5 mm aux input on the front. This lets you connect, for example, a sound card via RCA and another source via a mini-jack. The volume control affects both inputs. The headphone output next to it mutes the speakers and routes the signal to the headphones.

The right speaker connects using the supplied speaker cable; spring clips are provided on the rear of both speakers for this purpose. The active system requires mains power and is switched on and off using a rear switch. The supplied damping pads can be placed under the speakers to reduce vibrations and stabilise their position.

With a frequency response of 75 Hz to 20 kHz and a maximum RMS sound pressure level of 101.5 dB at one metre, the pair is suitable for desktop monitoring, media production, and speech and music playback in offices, classrooms and presentation rooms. The combination of RCA, aux and headphone output is particularly suited to setups where several compact audio sources are to be connected directly to the speaker system.
