Product description DBX 223XL
In a PA system with separate frequency bands, the signal must be split to suit the connected speakers. The active 2-way stereo or 3-way mono crossover DBX 223XL handles this split and provides a summable mono output for the low-frequency range.
In stereo mode, you split each channel into a low- and high-frequency path. For a mono system, switch to three-way mode; this provides low-, mid- and high-frequency outputs. The crossover frequencies can be set from 45 to 960 Hz. With the x10 switch, the adjustment range extends to 9.6 kHz. The 24 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley filters divide the frequency ranges.
If your system runs in stereo but your subwoofer requires a mono signal, the LF Sum function combines the two low-frequency signals and routes them to the Low output of channel 1. A switchable 40 Hz Butterworth low-cut filter with a slope of 12 dB/octave is available for both channels. The output levels can be adjusted individually, and the phase can be reversed. The phase reversal switches can be internally configured to mute the respective outputs instead.
For connection to a mixer and power amplifiers, the unit has balanced XLR inputs and outputs. The inputs and outputs are also designed for unbalanced connections and are RF-filtered. The internal power supply powers the crossover; the 19-inch housing is designed for rack mounting.
The DBX 223XL is suitable for PA racks that require analogue frequency splitting with XLR cabling. The switchable operating modes, adjustable outputs and summable subwoofer path are particularly useful when you switch between stereo and mono setups or connect a mono subwoofer to a stereo system.
