Audionamix IDC Instand Dialog Cleaner

Dialogue tracks with wind, room reverberation or changing ambient noise can often only be kept intelligible through targeted post-processing. The Audionamix IDC Instand Dialog Cleaner plugin separates speech and background components in real time, without requiring you to capture a noise profile beforehand. It processes mono and stereo files and is aimed at audio and video post-production, broadcast, podcasts and voice recordings.

The central BACKGROUND control lowers or raises background noise by up to 24 dB. SPEECH adjusts the level of the detected speech separately; STRENGTH determines how strongly the noise reduction is applied. A higher setting can remove more unwanted noise, but may also affect speech quality more significantly. The master fader then adjusts the overall output level.

The integrated AI detects speech even in the presence of complex or changing noise sources. These include wind and room noise, as well as bird and insect sounds, and car and aircraft noise. Because IDC works without first learning a noise source, you can place the plugin directly on a track and adjust the speech and background levels during playback.

IDC runs as a VST2, VST3, AAX Native, AudioSuite or AU plugin. The AU version is intended for Mac systems; you also need compatible host software to use it. Examples listed include Pro Tools, Media Composer, Logic Pro X, Final Cut Pro X, Nuendo, Cubase, WaveLab, Adobe Premiere and Audition, Digital Performer, Ableton Live, Studio One and Reaper. Sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz and word lengths from 16 to 32 bits are supported.

Requirements are Windows 7 or later or Mac OS 10.10 or later, at least 8 GB RAM and an iLok account. The licence can be used with a second-generation iLok dongle or later, or via iLok Cloud; you need the iLok License Manager to manage it. Cloud authorisation requires an internet connection. For multichannel tracks, the manual recommends multichannel operation instead of a multi-mono instance.

The plugin is supplied as a download; after purchase, you receive an activation code and download links by email. IDC is therefore suited to setups where you want to process dialogue in real time and adjust speech independently of the background level. The key considerations are support for the required plugin format, compatible host software and iLok authorisation.
