Product description Audient iD44

Four microphone preamps at the highest level, packed in a robust housing: The Audient iD44 is aimed at those who seek uncompromising sound quality. With its discrete Class-A circuit design, directly from Audient's legendary ASP8024-HE mixing console, this desktop audio interface offers exceptionally precise sound reproduction and a natural analog warmth. Particularly when recording, which requires an authentic and characterful sound aesthetic, the preamp section showcases its strengths.

With a total of 20 inputs and 24 outputs, the iD44 is suitable for both smaller project studios and ambitious home recordings. Two ADAT interfaces allow flexible digital expansion, while the two discrete JFET instrument inputs are specifically tailored to the needs of guitarists and bassists. Headphone monitoring is not neglected: Two independently adjustable headphone outputs offer high-level reserves and excellent sound quality.

The operation is pleasantly direct. Large, machined aluminum knobs provide a premium tactile feel. In addition, there are customizable function buttons and ScrollControl, a clever feature that allows comfortable control of various DAW parameters. Other practical features such as Talkback, Dim, and Cut buttons make everyday studio work significantly more efficient.

A high-quality DSP mixer with extremely low latency ensures that you can work without disturbing delays, even in demanding sessions. Thanks to the sturdy metal housing and a dedicated power switch, the iD44 is perfectly suited not only for the desktop but also for mobile use. Additionally, the comprehensive Audient ARC software package – including plugins from Eventide and a license for Steinberg Cubase LE – rounds off the overall package.

Super Sound, viel Kontrolle

The compact audio interface connects your turntable directly to your computer and makes archiving your records easily accessible. Thanks to its simple handling, stable signal transmission and space-saving format, this model is particularly suitable for anyone who wants to digitise their collection reliably. In everyday use, the item is impressive primarily due to its user-friendly operation. You connect it via USB, start your preferred recording software and can begin digitising immediately. This reduces effort and makes its use flexible, whether at a fixed workstation or in a more compact environment. For recording your records, a stable signal transmission is crucial. Audient ASP880

With the Audient ASP880 you get a flexible and powerful control center for your microphone and line signals. In a compact 1RU housing, the device combines eight fully equipped Class-A microphone preamps with thoughtful features and a high-quality A/D converter – developed with the goal to make studio quality tangible. The core circuit comes directly from the large Audient consoles, refined over years by developer legend David Dearden. Each channel offers you 60 dB of low-noise gain, selectable input impedances (220, 1200, or 2800 Ohms) and a sweepable high-pass filter, which can be adjusted continuously from 25 to 250 Hz. This lets you adapt the input signal precisely to your microphones and recording situation. For especially hot levels – such as kick or snare mics – -10 dB pads are available on the first two channels. A switchable phase inversion ensures that your multi-mic setups sound coherent and powerful. On the front you will also find two discrete JFET DI inputs, ideal for bass or guitar. The high input impedance of 1 MOhm preserves the natural tonal character of your instruments and adds a pleasant analog coloration if needed. Especially practical: thanks to the insert points between preamp and converter, external hardware can be integrated seamlessly. Alternatively, you can also use the device as a standalone A/D converter via the A-D switch. Inside works a Burr Brown ADC with up to 115 dB dynamic range, which provides digital outputs via ADAT, AES, or S/PDIF. Whether you use the Audient model as an extension for your interface or as a standalone front end – the quality of the conversion and the thoughtful operation speak for themselves. The robust all-metal housing with precisely machined aluminum knobs completes the professional claim. Features Audient ASP880 Eight-channel microphone preamp with A/D conversion in 1RU rack format Class-A preamps with discrete 8-transistor design and 60 dB gain Two JFET DI inputs with high-impedance input for instruments Sweepable high-pass filter (25–250 Hz, 12 dB/octave) per channel Variable input impedance (220 Ω | 1200 Ω | 2800 Ω) for tonal adjustment Phase inversion per channel to optimize multi-mic setups -10 dB pad on channels 1 and 2 for high input levels Insert circuit for integration of outboard between preamp and converter Burr Brown A/D converter with 115 dB dynamic range Digital outputs: ADAT (SMUX), AES, S/PDIF Robust all-metal housing with aluminum knobs and fanless power supply Technical Data Microphone gain: -10 to +60 dB (-10 dB pad) Line gain: -16 to +44 dB (-10 dB pad) Phantom power: 48 V ±4 V at 10 mA per channel Mic input impedance: 220 Ω | 1200 Ω | 2800 Ω Balanced Line input impedance: >6 kΩ Balanced Frequency response: ±0.5 dB from 10 Hz to 100 kHz Distortion (THD+N): 0.003 % @ 0 dBu Signal-to-noise ratio: >90 dB High-pass filter: 25–250 Hz, 2nd order DI input impedance: 1 MΩ Unbalanced DI THD+N: <0.03 % Line output: +27.5 dBu max | <100 Ω ADC inputs: +18 dBu max | >10 kΩ Balanced ADC dynamic range: 113 dB unweighted | 115 dB A-weighted Digital outputs: ADAT (44.1–96 kHz) | AES | S/PDIF Clocking: Internal or external (Wordclock via BNC, 75 Ω) Power supply: 90–264 V AC | max. 40 watts | fanless Weight: 4.0 kg Dimensions (W x D x H): 482 x 280 x 44 mm Scope of delivery Audient ASP880 eight-channel microphone preamp / A-D converter Power cable (IEC) Printed quick guide Including extensive Audient ARC download software package Steinberg Cubase LE + Cubasis LE 2 Steinberg Retrologue 2 Synth TwoNotes Wall of Sound Loopmasters Sample Pack Waldorf Edition 2 LE Free courses at the Produce Like a Pro Academy G-Force M-Tron Pro LE Subitopiano.com voucher

Arturia Keystep 37

Music is often created in the moment – the right sound, the perfect timing, an idea that can be realised immediately. This is exactly where the KeyStep 37 by Arturia comes in. Compact yet packed with creative possibilities, this device is more than just a simple MIDI controller. The 37 velocity-sensitive keys with aftertouch offer a surprisingly expressive playing feel. Thanks to the RGB LED lighting under each key, you will always be able to keep track of things, even during complex performances. In practice, the built-in sequencer is particularly impressive: With 64 steps and up to 8 polyphonic voices per step, you can not only compose quickly but also arrange directly. Eight separate patterns provide plenty of space for musical ideas that can be adjusted or changed live at any time. In addition, there is a flexible arpeggiator with eight modes, including exciting random generators that provide spontaneous inspiration. The controller becomes particularly interesting due to its extensive harmony functions. The Chord mode offers twelve different chord types that can be combined with strumming options and dynamic parameters such as velocity or note voicing. With the Scale mode, all keys can be automatically adjusted to a selected scale, so that even complex harmonic concepts remain intuitively playable. The Arturia controller also proves to be versatile in the studio. Almost any hardware or software can be integrated via MIDI, USB, or CV/Gate. Four freely assignable knobs allow direct control of up to 16 MIDI CC parameters, divided into four switchable banks. Whether it is a DAW, VST instruments, or modular synthesisers – synchronisation is carried out via the internal clock or external clock signals. For an immediate start, Arturia includes the matching software package, including Ableton Live Lite and the MIDI Control Center app. Features Arturia KeyStep 37 Compact MIDI controller with 37 velocity-sensitive keys and aftertouch RGB LED lighting under the keys for visual playing support 64-step sequencer with 8 polyphonic voices per step and 8 savable patterns 8 arpeggiator modes including random function for creative sequences Chord mode with 12 chord types, including strum and velocity options Scale mode with automatic note quantization to the selected scale 16 controllable MIDI CC parameters via four switchable knob banks CV/Gate connections for integration of modular equipment 5-pin MIDI I/O, USB-MIDI, and USB bus power for flexible connectivity Includes Ableton Live Lite and MIDI Control Center app Technical specifications Keyboard typeSynth-Action | SlimKey Keybed Number of keys37 Velocity sensitivityYes AftertouchYes Additional controllersPitch and modulation touch strips Sequencer64 steps | 8-voice polyphony | 8 patterns Pedal input1 x 6.3 mm (sustain) MIDI connectionsIn | Out | USB USB port1 x type B Additional connections2 x 3.5 mm (Sync In/Out) | 3 x 3.5 mm (CV Mod | Gate | Pitch) Computer connectionUSB Special functionsScale mode | Chord mode | 8-mode arpeggiator SoftwareMIDI Control Center app | Ableton Live Lite Power supplyUSB bus | optional power supply (12V DC, 1.5A) Weight1.6 kg Dimensions (W x D x H)550 x 147 x 35 mm Scope of delivery Arturia KeyStep 37 MIDI controller Anti-ground loop adapter USB cable Ableton Live Lite (via download) MIDI Control Center (for MIDI mapping | via download)

RME Fireface UCX II Front

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

RME Fireface UCX II

With the RME Fireface UCX II, you get a portable USB audio interface that combines, in a small space, many connection options, flexible signal routing, and standalone operation. The half-19-inch device is aimed at applications in the studio, in mobile recording, and in live settings, where you don’t want to give up on professional connection variety. Two Mic/Line inputs, two Line/Instrument inputs, additional analog Line I/Os, as well as ADAT, AES/EBU, SPDIF, Word Clock and MIDI ensure that the interface fits into very different setups. This is complemented by TotalMix FX, DURec for direct recording to USB storage, and SteadyClock FS for clean clocking. Compact, but open to large setups RME combines a very compact format here with equipment that goes far beyond classic desktop solutions. The device provides you with 40 channels for recording and playback and connects analog and digital sources without detours. On the front, you work directly with two Mic/Line preamps in the XLR combo format and two Line/Instrument inputs; on the back, you have additional balanced Line inputs and outputs for outboard gear, synths, monitors, or permanently wired studio connections.Especially then, when your setup grows, this RME solution remains an interesting option. ADAT, AES/EBU, SPDIF coaxial, Word Clock and MIDI open up many possibilities for expansion, integration of external converters, or synchronisation of multiple devices. This creates an interface that not only fits your needs today, but also keeps its place in more complex production environments. Direct access without detours The Fireface model is not dependent on being permanently connected to a computer. Using front buttons, encoders, and a colour display, you control important functions directly on the device. The standalone function is particularly practical: multiple device states can be saved in the internal memory, so you can quickly recall different working environments. This is especially useful when you switch between recording, live use, and fixed routing. Instead of having to configure everything again each time, you call up prepared setups and carry on immediately. This direct usability makes the interface not only more flexible, but also more practical in everyday situations where things need to happen quickly. Recording without a computer With DURec, the interface becomes more than just a switching hub. The integrated recording function writes all inputs and outputs directly to a USB storage medium via the connection on the rear. That way, you use the device as a standalone recorder for rehearsals, concerts, sessions, or virtual sound checks—without a Mac or PC having to run.Playback of already recorded tracks in a live context is also very interesting. Channels can be selected specifically for recording and playback, giving you significantly more freedom in practical use. For mobile applications or smaller production environments, it saves you paths, devices, and additional sources of error. Routing, monitoring, and control TotalMix FX is one of the points that has made RME interfaces so versatile for years. You get an extensive mixing and monitoring environment with latency-free monitor mixes, routing options, and integrated effects such as EQ, dynamics, reverb, and delay. This allows you to set up headphone mixes, monitor paths, and various output scenarios very precisely. On top of that, there’s DigiCheck for precise analysis and measurement tasks. This is particularly valuable when you want to cleanly monitor levels, digital signals, or complex routings. For many setups, this combination of hardware and software replaces an additional external mixer or meaningfully extends existing workflows. Clean clock, well thought-out outputs With SteadyClock FS, RME relies on a very precise clock architecture with strong jitter suppression. For you, that means stable synchronisation in the digital chain and a reliable basis for ADAT-, AES-, SPDIF-, or Word Clock setups. Especially when multiple digital devices work together, this is a point that makes a clear difference in everyday use.In addition, the interface offers DC-coupled outputs. This is particularly interesting if you work with CV/Gate and want to integrate modular systems. With this, the device doesn’t just appeal to classic recording and mixing environments, but also to users who want to bring audio and control signals together flexibly in a central hub. Does the RME Fireface UCX II fit your workflow? This interface is a great choice when you want more than just inputs and outputs at the computer. It’s suitable for ambitious home studios, professional production stations, mobile multi-track recording, and live setups with clear requirements for routing, stability, and standalone operation. Thanks to the straightforward operation, it’s also accessible for experienced beginners—however, its depth really comes into its own when you build more complex signal chains or want to integrate external hardware cleanly. Suitable for recording, mixing, and mobile multi-track setups Useful for hybrid studios with analog and digital peripherals Interesting for live applications with direct recording to USB storage media Strong choice if you work with TotalMix FX, external converters, or CV/Gate Features RME Fireface UCX II Portable 40-channel USB audio interface in a compact half-19-inch format for studio, live, and mobile applications Two Mic/Line inputs in XLR combo format on the front Two Line/Instrument inputs on the front with digitally controllable gain Eight analog I/Os plus a separate headphone output for flexible monitoring and signal routing Digital connections with ADAT, AES/EBU, SPDIF coaxial, Word Clock, and MIDI Standalone operation with saved device states and direct control via display, buttons, and encoders DURec for direct recording and playback via USB storage media without a computer TotalMix FX and DigiCheck for routing, monitoring, effects, and precise analysis functions SteadyClock FS for jitter suppression and stable digital synchronisation DC-coupled outputs for applications with CV/Gate and modular systems Technical data Channels 40 Audio interface type USB 2.0 Audio Interface Analog inputs 8 Analog outputs 8 Microphone inputs 2 x Mic/Line Input Instrument inputs 2 x Line/Inst Input Headphone output 1 x Phones Output Digital connections 1 x AES I/O | 1 x ADAT I/O | 1 x SPDIF I/O Coax | 1 x Word Clock I/O | 1 x MIDI I/O Supported sample rates 28 kHz to 200 kHz AD converter resolution 24 Bit DA converter resolution 24 Bit Microphone inputs 1-2 XLR, electronically balanced | Input impedance: 5.4 kOhm | Gain range: 75 dB | ON: -128 dBu A-weighted at 60 dB gain Line/Instrument inputs 3-4 TRS balanced or TS unbalanced | Instrument impedance: 1 MOhm | Additional digital gain: 0 to +24 dB Line inputs 5-8 6.3 mm stereo jack, electronically balanced | Input impedance: 8 kOhm unbalanced | 12 kOhm balanced | Gain: 0 to +12 dB Line outputs 1-6 6.3 mm stereo jack, servo-balanced | Maximum output level: +19 dBu | Output level switchable: +19 dBu | +13 dBu | +4 dBu Phones output 7-8 6.3 mm stereo jack, unbalanced | Output impedance: 1 Ohm | Max output power per channel at 32 Ohm: 210 mW MIDI 1 x MIDI I/O via 5-pin DIN sockets Power supply external power supply unit Power consumption typical 13 Watts Weight 0.91 kg Dimensions (W x D x H) 215 x 130 x 44 mm
