An integrated dual CD player with mixer saves space in a DJ setup and keeps playback and mixing together in one unit. The American Audio CK-800 plays audio CDs, CD-Rs and MP3 CDs, and adds connections for external sources to the decks. This lets you combine CD and MP3 playback with other line, Aux or microphone signals.
Auto Cue, real-time cueing and cue mixing are available for track work. The jog wheel supports pitch-bend correction; you can also adjust MP3 tracks using three selectable pitch ranges of ±4%, ±8% or ±16%. Frame-accurate searching works in steps of 1/75 of a second. Seamless loops can be set during playback and recalled.
The player starts within 10 ms of pressing the Play button. Digital Anti-Shock buffers playback; the manufacturer specifies 20 seconds per side. You can play tracks individually or continuously, and set the relay function so that one player takes over when the other finishes. A sleep mode is also available.
The integrated two-channel mixer offers independent channel inputs and three-band tone control per channel. Fader Q-Start lets you control playback using a compatible fader-start signal. The angled, bright LCD is readable from various viewing angles; the time display offers elapsed, remaining and total time views. Independent channel control makes it easier to balance external sources and the players.
Connections to an audio system include a digital coaxial RCA output, balanced XLR outputs and a Record Out. Two line inputs, an Aux input and a front-panel combo microphone input expand the choice of sources; the headphone output is for cueing. The range of connections suits DJ setups where CD or MP3 playback is combined with external players and a microphone.
