Product description Akai Blues Overdrive

An overdrive pedal should preserve the instrument's attack and dynamics, even when the sound becomes considerably more saturated. The fully analogue Akai Blues Overdrive ranges from gently warming up a valve amp to strong distortion and responds to the input level. Its vintage-style casing complements the analogue circuit design.

Use the Drive and Level controls to adjust the amount of distortion and output volume. Lower Drive settings produce a light crunch, while higher settings add more distortion. The extended bass response emphasises low frequencies; chords are also intended to remain clearly defined.

The footswitch activates or deactivates the effect. When switched off, True Bypass keeps the signal separate from the pedal circuit. You can place the pedal after a compressor for lead sounds or before another distortion pedal to drive it further. It is often used before modulation and delay effects; you can also use it as a boost at the end of the effects chain.

Power is supplied by a 9-volt battery or an optional power supply. When running on battery power, the input switches on the power supply: unplug the cable when you are not using the pedal. Remove the battery if you are not going to use the pedal for an extended period. A 9-volt battery is included; the power supply is available separately.

The pedal is suitable for guitarists who want to add an analogue overdrive with adjustable saturation and True Bypass to their effects chain. Battery or power supply operation suits both mobile setups and permanent pedalboards.
