Omnitronic Amplifier LH-042

Description:
The LH-042 is a line/phono converter which converts a line signal to a phono signal and thus allows you to connect line level sources, such as CD, MP3, DVD, or PC, to the magnetic phono input of a mixer, amplifier or recording unit. Nowadays phono inputs are largely unused because vinyl record players are getting rare. This little helper makes it possible to use those inputs as an extra line input. Unlike magnetic cartridges, line level audio signals are too high and are not equalized for phono inputs. This circuit does an attenuation of the line level signal to phono input levels and inverses the RIAA frequency characteristic to counteract the automatic frequency "shaping" of an amplifiers phono input stage. The type of phono input doesn't matter. The LH-042 is compatible with moving magnet (MM) inputs and moving coil (MC) inputs as the output level adjusts automatically. The LH-042 operates in passive mode, i.e. it does not require any operating voltage.
